University of Memphis: Dorothy Kayser Hohenberg Chair of Excellence in Art History

The Department of Art at the University of Memphis invites applications for The Dorothy Kayser Hohenberg Chair of Excellence in Art History. We are hiring visiting professors for the academic years of 2022-2023, 2023-2024, and 2024-2025. We welcome a broad range of applicants from areas including but not limited to American art history and visual culture; the arts of Ancient Greece and Rome; European art studies from medieval to contemporary; Egyptology and Ancient Near Eastern Studies, Africa-African Diaspora art histories; and Museum Studies. The College of Communication and Fine Arts statement regarding position advertisements reads, ‘The accomplishments of candidates for this position must reflect their commitment to working with an inclusive student population, and their ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the diversity and intercultural academic goals of the university.’
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Art History or relevant field of expertise. We welcome applications from senior and junior scholars who have a significant publication record and strong interdisciplinary research skills in art history and visual studies. Candidates should also demonstrate a balance of scholarly activity that includes a history of successful teaching and professional lecturing. Scholars with experience in either academic or museum settings are eligible.
