The Intercollegiate Department of Chicana/o Latina/o Studies at the Claremont Colleges (CLS) invites applications for a one-year (2022-2023), visiting appointment at the Assistant Professor level with a specialty in any of the following: the Mexico-U.S. border, transnationalism, immigration, education, communities, and activism. A Ph.D. in Chicana/o-Latina/a Studies or another interdisciplinary field is preferred. We also welcome degrees from sociology or history, but preference will be given to applicants with a strong background in ethnic studies. The teaching load is five courses and could include classes such as Latin America Since Independence, the Mexico-U.S. border, Chicanas/os Latinxs and Education, and Chicana/os Latinxs in Contemporary Society.
The candidate would be hired through Pomona College, the founding member of the Claremont Colleges, and a highly selective liberal arts college that attracts a diverse student body. The successful candidate will have experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and a demonstrated commitment to improving higher education for underrepresented groups.
