What impact do you want to have with your art?
I want to show a range of different results of only one material, the metal. Making big pieces of art for people who appreciate unique and unusual artwork, pieces that have random rigorous details found.
PIEDRA NEGRA is an Argentinian art collective founded in 1997 by two artists in Buenos Aires. Piedra Negra expresses itself in Buenos Aires and Houston through two friends and colleagues working together for more than 20 years, developing step by step the process of experimentation, almost as a scientific method. The beginning: the finishes on the surface of furniture; the result: the work of art on metal. Chemical treatment of tight chromatic quality and texture, accompanied by the mixture of chance, spontaneity and technique. Metal plates treated with chemical products are now a decorative object out of the standard. So far this object is appreciated only here and now.
Federico Manuel Massigoge, was born in the city of La Plata, Republica Argentina in 1963. He studied Natural Sciences at the National University of La Plata and then moved to the family farm in the cattle heart of the province of Buenos Aires to carry out agriculture in crops and animal production. It is there where sharing the work with his brother Gustavo, Plastic Artist, Federico is inspired to experiment with the manufacture of furniture and its different finishes and patinas that lead him to produce their furniture and collaborate with countless artists making them all kinds of supports and accessories upon request. With this knowledge he joined forces with his friend Alejandro Angeli and that is where Piedra Negra was born in 1997.
