OVERVIEW
CDC, Human Resource Office (HRO), Diversity and Inclusion Recruitment Activity (DIRA) Team is pleased to announce the virtual career expo ¡Somos más fuertes cuando nos unimos! We are stronger together! Bridging the gap of Hispanics and Latinos in CDC’s workforce. Increasing the representation of this population is critical to fulfill the agency’s public health mission.
PURPOSE
To provide undergraduate and graduate students of Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs) and Hispanic and Latino professionals interested in a public health career at CDC the opportunity to learn how to apply for a federal job and talk with CDC leaders about employment opportunities at the agency.
Objectives:
A keynote speaker will provide welcoming remarks to highlight the importance of this event to the agency’s diversity and inclusion hiring efforts. Throughout the expo, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in several career-focused opportunities including:
• The federal application process: Resume writing tips and navigating the USAJobs application process
• Concurrent breakout sessions: What is like to work on science and epidemiology, global health, administration, communication, and public affairs roles
• Fellowships and other hiring mechanisms: Overview of the Public Health Associate Program (PHAP), Hispanic Internship Program, Pathways and the new College and Recent Graduates hiring mechanisms
